Heal the Masculine to Raise the Feminine

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

This is a man’s world.

But it wouldn’t be nothing, not one little thing, without a woman or a girl

He’s lost in bitterness, he’s lost.

James Brown famously said in his song.

Looking at today’s world, I could not have agreed more to every word of it.

The concepts of divine masculine and divine feminine are complementary aspects of a greater spiritual whole.

The divine feminine is often associated with nurturing, compassion, intuition, creativity, and receptivity. It is seen as a force that is receptive to change and transformation, and is often associated with the moon, water, and the earth. The divine feminine is often represented by goddesses, such as Kali, Isis, and Aphrodite.

The divine masculine, on the other hand, is often associated with strength, courage, assertiveness, and rationality. It is seen as a force that is active and outwardly focused, and is often associated with the sun, fire, and the sky. The divine masculine is often represented by gods, such as Shiva, Thor, Apollo, and Zeus.

Both the divine feminine and masculine are aspects of the human experience, and both are necessary for balance and harmony. The integration and balance of both these aspects within an individual lead to a more holistic and balanced sense of self.

These concepts of divine feminine and masculine are not limited to any particular gender or sex. These are universal energies that can be embodied by anyone, anything regardless of their physical body. They can be also symbolized as “+”/ “-”, yin/yang.

Our world has not always been a man’s world. Many indigenous cultures have called it Mother Earth and historically lived in mostly evangelist mathernial societies where the power dynamics were different than those in Western patriarchal societies.

Patriarchal societies often value domination and control over both the natural world and over women's bodies and labor. This leads to a view of the environment and women as resources to be used for the benefit of those in power, rather than as entities deserving of respect and protection.

In addition, the rise of modern civilization and industrialization has led to the exploitation of natural resources and the degradation of the environment, which has had a profound impact on the lives of not only women but men as well.

To use power to exploit and control is a shadow aspect of masculinity. Women were left vulnerable by the imposition of superiority in evangelist societies. Today we women are still trying to have equal rights and respect. We still have a long way to go. But women are not the only ones injured from this toxic masculine world.

  1. Men die by suicide at a rate 3.63 times higher than women

  2. In the United States, only 36.6% of men with a mental health condition receive treatment, compared to 59.3% of women with a mental health condition.

  3. Men are nearly twice as likely as women to develop substance dependence

When we lose balance between the feminine and the masculine energies within and with Like James Brown said in his song, man is lost.

There is a need for healing and growth of divine masculinity. Healing divine masculinity involves promoting healthy expressions of masculinity that are inclusive, respectful, and supportive of all genders. It involves rejecting harmful stereotypes that promote violence, dominance, and aggression and instead, embracing divine feminine qualities of empathy, emotional intelligence, vulnerability, and connection.

Healing the shadow side of masculinity in our society requires a multi-faceted approach.

We can start with encouraging men to develop emotional intelligence and to embrace vulnerability as a strength, rather than a weakness. We as women should also embrace this quality as strength.

As women are getting more included in the political arenas and c level management of big corporations, I hope the divine feminine qualities will rise in these patriarchal bodies instead of shadow patriarchy rising in women.

How to balance divine feminine and masculine

Spare time not in doing but just being and connecting with our true essence.

Recognize where your feelings and actions are.

If you feel rigid, controlling, aggressive, react to criticism, you may like to strengthen your feminine qualities. In order to contact with your feminine side, be in the flow and let it go free. Free flow dancing, relaxation techniques, somatic practices, soothing breathing techniques may help.

If you feel victimized, weak and over emotional, you may like to strengthen your masculine qualities. Implement linear thinking, feel the integrity and courage inside of you. Do practices that would make you feel strong, like a power yoga or good jogging. Have more planing and get organized in your thoughts and actions.

I recommend holistic somatic practices which allows me to feel united with my body, mind and soul to feel the balance and harmony all the time.

How about the world we live in ?

The world we live is a reflection of us as collective. What is within, what is with out.

We should never forget that we can only change the collective if we change on a personal level. We should connect with ourselves more on an individual basis. If we are in harmony and balance, so the world around us.

Whichever is your way to visit the place where we are balanced and in harmony with the universe, take time for it everyday.

Be in that place where we unite with the feminine and masculine aspects of the whole. The more time we spend in this state, the closer we get to our true essence, the more we embody it.

The more we accept and respect our different aspects of ourselves and the more we can accept and respect others.

The more we unite all the aspects within ourselves, the more we sense the unity in the collective.

Love all ways,

Pelin
